Francis X. Bushman Audio Sample
A SILENT SCREEN LEGEND speaks volumes in this new audio documentary, based on the critically acclaimed book King of the Movies: Francis X. Bushman. Mr. Bushman’s most revealing anecdotes have been culled from a several-hour interview he gave at his home in 1957. With unbridled enthusiasm, the 74-year-old actor tells his own story, from his colorful childhood in Baltimore, Maryland, to his meteoric rise and cataclysmic fall as one of the movies’ first superstars.

Reviews
I am speechless at this incredible piece of cinema history. This is a must-have for any film buff. Once again, film historians Lon and Debra Davis bring us a priceless piece of film history. I sat enthralled listening to the never heard before recording of one of silent films premiere actors, Francis X. Bushman. To hear, in Bushman's own words, about his experiences in being a part of some of cinema's epic masterpieces (such as "Ben-Hur") is a rare glimpse into the past that is quickly being forgotten. While we have in 2011 a great film "The Artist" that mimics the days of silent films, here we have one of the original "artists" who created film history. Bushman was the era's Charleton Heston, a bigger than life hero on the silver screen. Bushman was a superstar of that time and to hear him reflect on his journey in this beautifully and lovingly restored and re mastered audio is simply amazing. The time I spent listening to this tremendous audio book was cherished. I have already replayed the book to listen to items I missed. As a film collector, this is an important addition to my library. The audio book also explores both Bushman's rise and fall from prominence and gives the listener a fascinating look at the vulnerability of stardom. I must say that I encourage the listeners to purchase Mr. and Mrs Davis' book "King of the Movies: Francis X. Bushman," which makes an important companion to understand fully Mr. Bushman's complex life. This book was beautifully written and researched. With the great acceptance of "The Artist" there is a rebirth in interest in the silent film era. I think that this tape will help us understand this important era in the history of film. Kudos to the Lon and Debra Davis on this incredible audio book that is a "must" for all film lovers. Thanks for another masterpiece!! Rick Lertzman Moreland Hills, Ohio
